The Ministry of Intercession - Day 31 - For the Spirit of Christ in His people
What to pray
I am the vine you are the branches - John 15:5
That you should do as I have done to you - John 13:15
A branch that is growing healthy on the trunk of the tree is hard to see exactly where the trunk stops and the brach begins. The fibers and the sap that runs through it are the same.
As believers and followers we are a part of Christ. We need His power. Just as we need to pray for the Holy Spirit we also need to pray for the spirit of Christ. Pray that we may have the mind of Christ, the temperament, the patience, the trust in the Father like he had.
How to pray - Striving in prayer
Ask for it expectantly. Abide in Him.
Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing. - John 15:5
See yourself in Him, trust, obey, follow, look to, emulate. As you strive in prayer to become more like Christ also strive in action to do like Christ. But prayer is the key. Intercessory prayer; that we lift ourselves and other up in prayer. It will take our whole heart and streangth. But he will give it.
Andrew Murray: "May God five us grace to strive in prayer till we prevail."
This concludes the 31 days of "The Ministry of Intercession" by Andrew Murray.
It doesn't mean that we now know everything about intercession. It just means that we now begin to apply what we have learned. That we begin to intercede for the places where needed. That we start over again to refresh our memory so each of the ways to intercede becomes second nature to us. Not like a burden that we shall and ought, but as an opportunity to make a difference. It is a weapon in the battle against darkness and death in all its forms. Its and access and privilege we have been given as children of our Heavenly Father.
We will also continue to gather for prayers on Tuesday morning at 6am in the sanctuary.
The SEAPC have called for 40 days of prayer called Pray Americas and we will join them in prayer and even prayer walks.
