The Ministry of Intercession - Day 23 - Pray for the Holy Spirit in your own work
What to pray for.
For this I toil, struggling with all his energy that he powerfully works within me. - Colossians 1:29God has a work for each of us. He has prepared a path of actions for us to walk in. We can go about it in our own mind and benefit, or we can go about it in a way that is lead by the Spirit and honors the Father.
But it doesn't come easy and naturally like a stone drops to the ground. Paul, who was filled and lead by the Spirit says he toils and struggle to do His will. He does it with the energy and power that God provides but he doesnt do it in himself.
It would be presumtious of us to think we wouldn't need God's power to do God's plan for us and it would take some effort and sweat on our behalf.
How to pray
The good part is that God will provide as he calls.
Draw near to God, and he will draw near to you... - James 4:8.
When we draw near to God in intercession for others and for the work in us something begins to happen. God draws near and it changes us. It changes our perspective and priorities. It changes our desire to serve Him. It gives us rest and power at the same time as Andrew Murray puts it. It gives us rest that we are in his will and He gives us power to fulfill His will.
Draw near to Him, pray for your work, work at praying, and He will give you power you need.
