Pray for the Spirit of God on the Jews.

We are called to go to all nations and tribes that they may know salvation through Jesus Christ, fulfililng the great commission from Matthew 28:19-20. 

So why is there a special call to pray for the Jews? Aren't they 'just' a nation or tribe like any other that needs Jesus? It is true they need Jesus to be saved. Act 4:12. He is Messiah.  

They have actually been waiting for the anointed, which messiah means, for millenia. Since the prophets began to talk about how God's annointed would one day bring salvation to His people. 

What many christians struggle with is why Israel has a special place. Paul expounds on this in Romans chapter 9-11 and how their selection as a tool for God to bring salvation to all nations is still in effect. This is not new to Jews. From the very beginning, when God chose Abraham it was with the purpose of bringing salvation to all people. Romans 4. 

It was not because Israel was the largest nation:

 7 It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the LORD set his love on you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples,

8 but it is because the LORD loves you and is keeping the oath that he swore to your fathers, that the LORD has brought you out with a mighty hand and redeemed you from the house of slavery, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. - Deuteronomy 7:7-8

By God chosing a people that is the smallest the more obvious it becomes to spectators that it is God who is working out His salvation plan. 

They rejected the Messiah, but that doesn't mean God rejected them. They are still the people God has chosen to reach all nations. 

How to pray.

Pray for the Spirit of God to open Israel's eyes. Pray that their interest may be sparked when seeing Christians show love and bless them. Pray that they will be envious for the salvation. Rom 11:14. 

Interceed for them and remind God about His promises to Israel. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem Psalm 122:6.
