What are you waiting for

My eyes long for your salvation and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise. (Psalm 119:123). What are you waiting for? What do you long for?” In what (or in whom) would you find fulfillment? I suppose like most, when I was growing up I was full of anticipation at this time of year. Thanksgiving moved quickly into Advent which moved quickly into Christmas Eve which came along with family, numerous worship services, and a huge meal, and then a huge clean-up job after the meal. It goes without saying that I was anticipating presents. I longed for the word from the parents which said, “It is time to open gifts.”What do you long for now? Wrapping paper still excites me, but I anticipate other things now. What are you waiting for? Every year at this time we get a wake-up call. The old Advent hymn is right: Wake, awake, for night is flying! Advent is like an alarm clock the rings out, “Wake up! Its Son rise.” I believe that this is not only a church year season, but the spiritual season we are in at Trinity. There have been numerous words of hopeful anticipation about a fresh working of the Holy Spirit here. Will you join me in praying,
Come Lord Jesus, do Your work at Trinity—
Come Lord Jesus, do Your work in me.
Come Lord Jesus, do Your work through Trinity—
Come Lord Jesus, do Your work through me.

What an honor it is to be a part of what God is doing today. Friends, today is a good day, but I’m excited about our tomorrow! My eyes long for your salvation and for the fulfillment of your righteous promise. (Psalm 119:123).
