Prayer for marriages week

Wednesday
Marriage is lived in vows made by husband and wife
I, take you, to be my husband (or wife), to have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death us do part, according to God’s holy will; and I pledge to you my faithfulness.

Prayer: Father, we pray for those who have made vows of fidelity to be reminded of them and strengthened in them. Give us Your Holy Spirit to fill us with faith toward You, and love toward one another, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Thursday
Marriage is protected by the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Matthew 19.6
“What God has joined together, let no one put asunder.”
Let us pray that every friend of marriage would be strengthened. Praying together, playing together, face-to-face time, shoulder-to-shoulder time ; a common mission; worshipping together; serving together, expressing love together; forgiving one another; setting good boundaries; respecting one another; making small deposits everyday in the relationship account. Lord, help us to multiply these traits, and everything else that is a friend of marriages. We also pray that you would be an enemy to everything that seeks to undermine marriages today. In Jesus’ name!

Marriage is prayed for and supported by the holy Christian congregation
Almighty and everlasting God, our Heavenly Father, grant that by Your blessing husband and wife may continue to live together according to Your Word and promise. Strengthen them in faithfulness and love toward each other. Sustain and defend them in every trial and temptation. Help them to live in faith toward You, in the communion of Your holy Church, and in loving service to each other that they may ever enjoy Your heavenly blessing; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen

Marriage is to be a mysterious experience and witness to the relationship between Christ and His Church

Ephesians 5 31 "Therefore a man shall leave his father and mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh." 32 This mystery is profound, and I am saying that it refers to Christ and the church. 33 However, let each one of you love his wife as himself, and let the wife see that she respects her husband.

God, we finish this week by praying that You would stir each husband to love their wife with the love that Christ has for His precious church. Inspire husbands to lay down their lives, in sacrificial and life-giving service. Stir each wife to respect her husband as the church respects Jesus Christ even when she doesn’t understand Him. Inspire wives to build up their husbands in word and deed. We pray this in Jesus’ name.
