Desolate Place Strategy

"Everyone is looking for you." Mark 1.37
Begins the long tradition stretching all the way to here and now and me, where disciples think it is their job to give direction to Jesus.

Heaven's man, Jesus, must have seemed so out of place here on earth.

He is and was true man - born of the virgin Mary -
but his values
his ways
his rhythm
his spirit seemed and seem so alien to the real world.

But, maybe its not Jesus that is alien to the real world, but us?

Maybe busyness, popularity, market share, PR, spin, the crowds, being cool or relevant are not the  most important metrics to Jesus or his kingdom.

But, us disciples often feel like we need to help Jesus fit into this only world we know.
We want to make him more relevant or cool.
We want to give him every advantage to popularize his message or means.
"Everyone is looking for you."
Jesus, if you want to be relevant - its time to perform.
If you want to be influential - let the market dictate how you spend your time.
Performance is what people are looking for.
Maybe pray if you have time later.
How can we maximize your influence and impact.
But, Jesus knows something -
another world
a kingdom
the real world that can break into this one.
And, it won't come through our ingenuity,
our tactics,
or our leadership methods -
it comes through communion with God.
First place time.
Early time.
Time in a place desolate of noise, and distraction, and traffic.
That place doesn't lack strategy.
It is full of kingdom strategy.
