#andwerehoff Cymru-Wales Castle and Abbey

Bathwick National Trust land overlooking Bath is right across from our hostel, where we parked our Citroen overnight before today's adventure.
We drove from Bath on the M4 across the sea into Caldicot.
We tried to find someone to speak Welsh to us all day, and found out that only 25% of the population speaks Welsh, but all school children now learn it.
Caldicot Castle was a hidden hit. Tucked into a neighborhood and an estuary, there were walkers, school children, and birds everywhere.
Green everywhere!
A couple knights, bishops, and pawns.
Here is the inside of the castle. People lived here until the 1950's. They turned a few of the towers into flats for young couples during the housing shortage after the war.
We had lunch at a baguette shop, and the friendly workers strongly encouraged us to go to Tintern Abbey, a 12th Century Cistercian monastery. Between the castle and the Abbey, our imaginations ran wild today. The second abbot (bishop of the Abbey), Henry, was known for his overwealming tears at the altar. #goodness
There are some better pictures at their sight: http://www.castlewales.com/tintern.html

My lady of Tintern.
We made it back to Bath, and just returned to Bathwick to overlook the city, and I couldn't agree with the bench at the entrance to the green space. #true
