Rebels

"Rebellious spirit".
The words mentioned at the Men's Prayer Group on Wednesday have come back to mind several times in the last couple of days. It seems to be the core of "wrong turns" in many of our lives. We may have yielded to our "rebellious spirit" so often that it has become part of our personality. It helps some of us standout and get noticed.

So when I opened the daily email from "Breakpoint" and say the title "Rebels with a Good Cause", it caught my interest. http://www.informz.net/pfm/archives/archive_608384.html

Check it out for yourselves. It caused me to check out the blog of these two teenagers, Alex and Brett. http://www.therebelution.com/blog/
I followed one of the links to listen to an interview on NPR.

The verse 1 Timothy 4:12 is part of the logo at http://www.therebelution.com
"Let no one despise you for your youth, but set the believers an example in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith, in purity."

Now here is a revolutionary idea. Rebel against the status quo. Rebel against the culture that seeks to put you in a box.

So what about us older folks? We could be the ones with a bent for "despising youth"....or we could be their cheerleaders.
I remember being at the LA Coliseum at a PromiseKeepers event a dozen years ago when tens of thousands of men rose to their feet cheering and clapping as several thousand teenage boys ran into the Coliseum.
It's been a dozen years. I stand and cheer Alex and Brett. I cheer all the teens they inspire and challenge.
How about you?
