The Ministry of Intercession - Day 2
I'm excited to be on this prayer journey with Trinity and also grateful to Pr. Nathan to be invited to share my findings and foibles as we walk in intercessory prayer.
The access to pray we have because we are children of our Heavenly Father, and the power to pray and to continue we get through the Holy Spirit.
But what to pray for?
Andrew Murray suggest on the second day in The Ministry of Intercessory Prayer that we pray for the Spirit of Supplication. Not the spirit of consumerism - we don't need too - it is so prevalent in the American culture that the attitude of entitlement is one of the most powerful and damaging spirits that currently is tearing through churches and homes. Besides a host of malignant things like selfishness, apathy, and criticism, and I'm sure it includes ingrown toe nails too, it gives a very short attention span in prayer.
Not that the longer prayer necessarily equals more answered prayer, but an understanding for the need of prayer causes people to spend more time in prayer. Whether it be intentional lumps of quiet times to close out the world or it be 50 times througout the day checking in with God asking the Spirit how I best can serve or honor The Father or pray for someone. Common for them is the Spirit of Supplication.
Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit. - Ephesians 6:18.
