The creed is more than, not less than, a doctrinal standard. It is also the content of the hope that is within us. It is identity forming. It is evangelism practice. It gets at the primal questions: Where did we come from? What is the source of our value? Where is this world going? Is there a narrative, a greater story, that we are a part of? Is this world, and our world, random or does it declare the glory of God? The book of Isaiah will help us understand our credo--what we believe.
