Worship Survey, Worship this weekend at Averill Park, New Worship Schedule announced

Dear Family,
Jesus' grace!

This Saturday is the 13th Annual Light at the Lighthouse at Point Fermin Park from 10am-6pm. Great environment for the whole family! Multiple stages with different bands, kids area, food trucks, and lots of Trinity involvement! Trinity's prayer walk will take place at Pt Fermin park that day to pray for God's will to be done on that great day!

This Sunday, we have ONE worship service at Averill Park at 9:30am. Watch where you park, and feel free to bring a picnic and yard games for afterwards. Also, don't forget a blanket or chair.

Next Saturday, September 9th, is Mark My Words, a musical written by our own Bob Bowker inspired by the Gospel of Mark. There will be a matinee at 2pm and an evening performance at 5pm. Tickets are $10 and all proceeds will be split between Betty's Foundation, battling Alzheimer's, and Courage House Tanzania.

Worship Survey and Schedule changes
I was happy that over 60 people took the time to weigh in on worship matters at Trinity. Worship does matter! I will write more later about some of the findings of that survey, but want to pass on some changes that are coming to our schedule.

Here is the schedule, starting on Sunday, September 10, 2017
8:30-9:30am Worship: At the 830 you can count a few glorious hymns as well as a song of praise. God speaks to us through his word (the Bible) as well as through a message based on that word. Jesus meets us in Holy Communion (Lord’s Supper) every week. After the benediction and final song or hymn, all are welcome to stay for Overflow or to go in peace and serve the Lord.
9:30-10:00am Overflow: At Overflow, we enjoy the overflow of God’s mercy by connecting with him in more extended praise and worship, more free expression, and through operating in the Spiritual gifts of grace according to the Scriptures. There is time for personal ministry and prayer for healing available.
10:00-11:00am Worship: At the 10 you can count on songs of praise, and one great hymn. God speaks to us through his word (the Bible) as well as through a message based on that word. Jesus meets us in Holy Communion (Lord’s Supper) on the first and third Sundays of the month. Kids are welcome at every service at Trinity, but many come to this service because of the time, energy, children’s message, and once-a-month half hour mission trip to Los Palos Convalescent Home across to the street. Quite a few people from the 10 come early for Overflow at 9:30am for a more extended time of praise.
5:00-6:00pm Worship: We call this “the Table” because we gather at round tables all around the Family Room (MPR), with the Lord’s table in the center of our gathering. God meets us here in praise, in His word, and at the Lord’s Supper (Holy Communion). This is probably the most “kid-friendly” service at Trinity. Kids are welcome to move, sit on the floor, color, and participate in worship and by serving in different leadership capacities (ushering, candles, helping with distributing the Lord’s Supper) in the worship service. The Table service is followed by a simple dinner at 6pm and classes for all.

Welcome to the Worship Life at Trinity! Regardless of which service you attend, we all gather together for engaging worship (timeless liturgy freshly expressed), we praise together, confess our sins together, confess our faith together, share peace with each other and spending ample time opening and hearing the Word of God, and receiving the sacraments.
Our worship includes and welcomes every generation.  We believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ is for every generation and every culture—in other words—EVERYONE!  Our guiding questions in planning worship include:  Does this glorify Father, Son, and Holy Spirit?  Does this comfort people with the Gospel clearly expressed?  Does this facilitate the congregation's voice?  We value an encounter with the living God!

Now Welcome HOME Sunday is on Sunday, Sept 10th.
Our theme through the fall will also be Welcome HOME. That first Sunday, Sept 10th will be an important introduction! It will also be VERY guest-friendly! Ask the Lord if he could bring someone to your mind or heart you could invite to the service you are coming to that day!
Love you all, Nathan
