Somatic Warriors Soul Wimps
Psalm 106 includes a short phrase “leanness into the soul.”
Maybe this leanness comes from a starvation diet that leaves us spiritually anemic, disoriented, and lethargic because of a holiness and grace deficiency.
There is a rightful care for the body,
a somatic value that is attentive to the diet we consume
and the physical exercise in which we participate
with goals,
discipline,
limits,
challenge,
coaching,
subscriptions,
blood,
sweat,
tears.
We wake early and forsake comfort for this part of our humanity.
But we starve our souls,
think early mornings are for the monks,
discipline and coaching for the extremists,
and tithing and fasting for the overly-committed.
We are somatic disciples with untended souls.
