The vulnerable voice

The vulnerable voice has more authority.

We have one cd in our station wagon.  Audrey Assad's voice-always.  She has a vulnerable voice.  She has been a faithful companion in the few miles I've driven since last Friday's sadness.  "His eye is on the sparrow".

During the most difficult period in our marriage, Joy and I were tended to by God's voice speaking through another vulnerable voice.  Sara Groves singing "Its going to be alright." Check our iTunes, and you will see the most played song of all time in our house.

The vulnerable voice is believable.  I can tell you understand.  I trust what you are saying.

The vulnerable voice is authentic.  It sounds like you have 'been there.' It doesn't sound like you are singing someone else's song.

The vulnerable voice is prophetic.  You are telling the truth.  I've been preaching on the readings from the prophets during Advent.  They are vulnerable and authoritative truth-tellers.

The vulnerable voice is authoritative.  You paid a price to sing that song.  In weakness, we see God's strength.  In failure, we see God's grace.

The vulnerable voice is Jesusy.  Away in a Manger's second verse is wrong.  "No crying he makes" couldn't be farther from the truth.  Crying he makes!  The vulnerable voice.
