Poem on Matthew 14.34-36
Tzitziyot extending from the corners of Jesus' tallet
Tassels on his prayer shawl worth more than what's in your wallet
The power of God flowing through fabric
Could cause some to do a couple things tragic
Like judge Jesus' decision to work through means
Rejecting the gift that his prayer shawl brings
Or some would lose focus and worship the fringe
miss Jesus completely, go on an idolatrous binge
We have the same temptations today
Jesus' power and grace still on display
In, with, and under the weak and down-to-earth
and we sometimes judge it, we say, "Not worth
that much!" We think its almost profane
that in water, word, bread, and wine Jesus will remain
Its also not the means that makes us fall to the floor
But the presence of Jesus we fall to adore
