Poem on Matthew 13.53-58
There is a familiarity that breeds unbelief
"True God-true man" says the creed. What a relief
The hometown guys certainly believed him to be
true man, "We don't expect that he
could do that much. He's just like us-normal."
"I think Jed took one of his sisters to formal"
"True God? Seems too marvelous, too odd."
"Where then did this man get all these things?"
"All this wisdom and the mighty works that he brings?
Some can't see much past the skin
The blood-beating heart of God within.
