Jesus didn’t do door-to-door evangelism. Through His presence the kingdom of God came to bear on people in their current condition. Lepers were cleansed; sick healed; sinners forgiven; demonized delivered; proud humbled; dead raised; hungry fed. Jesus engaged with people. He taught his disciples to do the same—with His empowering presence, the Holy Spirit. Most people don’t think they can do evangelism, but most can engage with people. With the Spirit’s power, they can also bring the Kingdom of God to bear on people in their current condition. Think of those in their current condition around you: addicts; unemployed; consumers; rat race runners; sick; depressed; workaholics; unhappy; misguided; insecure; proud; fearful; angry. How do we equip the body of Christ to ENGAGE?
