More of the story...
Are you familiar with Paul Harvey's "The Rest of the Story"? Well this is just more of the story. A story of Grace. A story of God's faithfulness.
Back in the '90s our AAL Branch at Trinity held a fundraising dinner (over $5,500 was raised) for the Paul and Sue Hoiland family, Bible Translators in Sipacapa Guatemala. Sue had been a Bible school classmate of several of us at Trinity, had had Pastor Larry as teacher, and had come for ministry at mid-month while a student at CLBS. The family was returning from the Guatemala to Dallas where Sue was undergoing treatment for cancer. A couple of years later (forgive my approximations of time), Sue and Paul spoke to an informal group of us in the Trinity lounge. Some of you may have met them at that time.
This week we got a note from Sue about Tim, their middle child. Sue wrote:
As for Paul and Sue, they live in Lancaster County, Pennslyvania. They are both still with Wycliffe Bible Translators. Paul is working on a commentary for translators of the book of Song of Solomon (my understanding). Sue works in member care. The cancer has been in remission for years now. They were planning a trip to California this last fall but it was postponed for a variety of reasons. They were interested in speaking to any group we could get together. I will let you know when they are coming. I am thinking that their story has more to come as well.

Tim has the wonderful opportunity to return to Guatemala and visit Sipacapa, the village where we lived for many years. He will be seeing Mario and some of our old friends there, and we are thankful for this renewed contact with Sipacapa after many years away. He leaves today and will return on Monday, March 9. Would you please join us in prayer for God’s protection and blessing on all of his contacts? Attached is a pdf that Tim wrote, explaining his motivation for this trip. We would appreciated your continued prayers for God’s work in the lives of our Sipakapense friends. You can access Tim's letter at http://www.tjhoiland.com/junk/guate09.pdf I encourage you to read a powerful story. You can also follow Tim's blog as he is posting from Guatemala. Be sure click on the Bio button and read it for even "more of the story". If you are not into reading, you can check out his photos. I think you may be as impressed as I was with the story so far. I am not sure I will ever view missionary kids the same again. I am looking forward to following this story as it is a powerful story of God's grace.
